As many of us pause each week to consider the Advent and what the true meaning of Christmas is, it’s a wonderful time to memorize verses as a family.  The scripture to memorize in December follows the weekly focus of the traditional Advent. Each week has a new verse (from the ESV), and you can download the verses on a card to print and display around the house to make remembering them easier.

December Scripture Cards

Week 1 Hope: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

Week 2 Love: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”  John 13:34-35

Week 3 Joy: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalms 16:11

Week 4 Peace: “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33
